General symptoms of disease in ornamental fish:

The following signs suggest a general fish disease:

• Behavioral changes generally recognizable from the outside in fish, such as rocking movements in place, discoloration or darkening, segregation from the fish group or school, reluctance to eat or refusal to feed or fish only remain on the ground or only below the surface of the water.

• Indefinable coatings on the skin of the fish, open wounds or ulcers, protruding scales, fins that dissolve (especially from the edges of the fins), protruding eyes on one or both sides, cottony and white coatings on the mouth and body, unnatural increase in the circumference of the abdomen. Fish through fluid (ascites).

As with all fish diseases, the keeper must react as quickly as possible, as fish cannot recover and become healthy on their own without directly initiated therapy. Therefore, no time should be wasted waiting to prevent pathogens from weakening the fish.

Because it is well tolerated, breeders can treat newly acquired fish as a preventative measure before introducing new fish into aquarium systems.

Ornamental fish that suffer from fish tuberculosis cannot be cured with EXOSAL ^® . Tuberculosis of fish cannot be ruled out if therapy with the Manaus Aqaurium drugs is unsuccessful, in relation to the symptoms described above and deaths that occur inexplicably in the aquarium. Only a microscopic examination by an appropriate examination centre or by a veterinarian specialising in fish diseases can provide clarification.
